I'm so excited
When I was young, I spent numerous hours scowering the shoreline for seashells. But my newest obsession are beach rocks. After lots of research I've learned some differences between rocks and the locations they have been found. Depending on the climate, minerals and other surroundings, rocks may differ in color, shape and/or texture. All of this has brought me to my recent designs. ROCKS, ROCKS and more ROCKS. YEAH!!!!!! Here are a couple of pieces I have made and sent away to the casting company. I can't wait for them to come back so I can turn them into jewelry. I will post the finished product as soon as possible.

Let your garden grow
******* ********
My grandmother has the best garden ever. She spent many years working for a florist so, she has landscaped her backyard perfectly. She seems to know exactly what plants compliment others and which flowers bloom at the perfect time. When visiting I spend most of my time sititng in a lounge chair on the back deck with my sketchbook. I've come to realize that there is NO greater artist than mother nature herself. She has an upperhand on us all. We spend so much time trying to duplicate her work, but it's useless. Nothing compares.

All in the family
A few months ago I took a weekend off of work and went to relax at my grandparents house. They live in a quiet house on a lake with a beautifully landscaped backyard in the middle of (farmtown) southern Jersey. It was a much needed distraction from the "big" city. During my trip I realized that it's nice coming from a creative family. Almost everyone in my family is blessed with some sort of artistic talent. My dad's a photographer, my mom's a writer, my sister's a designer, but the one person who has had the most impact on my creative gene is my grandfather. Pop-Pop as I call him is an extremely talented watercolorist. He spent his life in advertising, but he spent he free time at the easel. In my visit to Jersey I found a few images of some of my favorites.

MY DREAM GUY
"If you could have dinner with five people past or present...who would they be?" Andy Goldsworthy would be one of mine. I will safely say he reigns a spot as one of my top three artists of all time. Using natural materials (branches, stones, ice, leaves...etc) he creates simple yet fantastic sculptural materpieces. The type of work I wish I created myself. It's nice to know that someone is as obsessed with rocks as I am.

Yeah!!! My first entry.
Here it goes...I'm now an official blogger. I know I'm a little behind the times, but here's my story. I spent the last couple of years working at a "fancy pants" jewelry store and I've sort of been disconnected from the art/craft world. I'm ending that now. The juices are flowing and I'm ready to get back into the game. I've been working my arse off in my studio and I'm hoping to have a website up by the holidays. I'm excited to share some of my inspirations and to check out what else is going on in blogger world. YEAH!!!
