I can't stop dancing to it.

TGIF

I've always thought that the acronym "TGIF" was sort of lame... but today it expresses exactly how I'm feeling.   THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!!

To say that this week at work has been slow, is a HUGE understatement.  It's been quite painful.  I can't wait for this holiday weekend to begin.

Get out your veggie burgers and fire up the grill...  it's Labor Day weekend!!!

beautiful losers

Beautiful losers is film that celebrates the spirit of the DIY movement and its connections to the worlds of skateboarding, punk, graffiti, and hip-hop.
Sounds pretty interesting.
Looks like I missed the screening in Baltimore, but it seems to be traveling to cities across the country.

a little premature

(gray wolf cowl- windowsill)

I know this is a little premature...
But, there is a wonderful cool breeze in Baltimore tonight and I'm yearning for the crisp autumn air.

Do yourself a favor...

If you're in the LA area, do yourself a favor and check out Brandon Boyd's new art exhibit "Ectoplasm" at Mr. Musichead's art gallery from September 8th- 27th.

Brandon is most known for his musical talents, but from the first drawing I saw I've been a great fan of his art.  Loads of self taught talent from this man, go check it out yourself.

I'd be there, if only I didn't live on the east coast.

i bet you don't have a magazine named after you...

Looks like someone named a magazine after me...
Well, maybe not me.  But I'm sure it's another cool chick who shares the same name.

Of course I had to subscribe, so when I get my first issue, I'll conduct a proper review.

For now, you can check out the website- ELIZA

amazingly beautiful

I saw this image a year or two ago and LOVED it.

I just found it again and I can't figure out what's more beautiful: the dress, the metalwork on the staircase, or the partially cracked plaster wall.

Quiet night at home

Don't you love those quiet nights at home, when you can snuggle up with a movie or a good book?  When you can lounge in your sweats with your hair in a ponytail.  Maybe have a glass of wine or a cup of tea...  that was the plan I had for last night until-----

This happened...

and this happened...

and a little of this happened...

finally!!!  this happened!

Long story short:
-sitting in bed, hear crash down the street (that's a shame)

-still sitting in bed, hear 2nd crash down the street (wait a minute???)

-look out window, lots of people screaming (hold up!!!)

-run to front door to see car up the street is jammed (backwards) in parking spot crashing back and forth into 2 other cars (this looks like trouble)

- guys jumps out of car, tries to steal other car on street, then gets tired and starting urinating in middle of street (that's right... you heard me correctly)

- guys jumps back into his car, wiggles his car out of spot, and OH NO!!! He's headed straight for me (this is where I start to hyperventilate)

-slow motion starts in my head, he's coming, he's coming right for my car parked out front of my house (NO, please NO)

-I run into the hall way of my house (because there is only about 8 feet between my house and the street)

- CRASH!!!  my car gets lifted off the street onto the sidewalk (I'm not kidding, this is not a movie)

- the other car also gets some "air" and pummels into the car parked in front of me which hits the car in front of it, and so on.

- you think that's the end, you thought wrong...

- my neighbors grab the guy from his car, and wrestle him to the ground right at the foot of my front steps.
-the police arrive seconds later and cuff the man on my front steps
-he's bleeding, he's taken to hospital, then he's taken to jail

Have you forgotten that this was my "quiet night at home"?
I hope you had a better night!

jump if you want a RAD dress!

Beautiful handmade one-of-a-kind dresses from etsy dressmaker:

sculpture, dance, the bongos???

Lately I've been thinking about busting out the BIG torches and working on some larger sculptures again.

This is my very first welding piece.  Not the most complicated, but a good job none the less.  Sorry about the rust spot.  What can I say?  It's old, and it's steel.

Now all I have to do is figure out a way to juggle a full time job, a jewelry business, time to exercise, time to socialize, time to relax, time to spend with family, AND NOW TIME TO WELD.  (While I'm at it, I should make time for painting, maybe piano lessons, or dance class... I've always wanted to play the bongos too.)

thank goodness it's Saturday

Happy Weekend everyone!!!

I'm going to try to make it through work today... but the way the rest of the week has gone makes me think that I will be trying to escape like these elephants.

How amazing are these elephant topiaries????   I'm not normally into the whole "bush cut into an animal" idea, but this is seriously impressive.

coat of arms

I've always been intrigued by shields, crests, and coats of arms; and I'm totally loving these "coat of arms" necklaces from Urban Outfitters.  They have a feeling of history, regality, and prestige.

Just for fun I googled the "Mundy" family crest and found this-

I might have to bust out the enamel and make my own pendant to represent my family.

HOLY cacao chips!

I know... it's another food post.
So, I've been trying to refresh my memory on all the super foods and I always LOVE to read that chocolate is at the top of the list.

Full of antioxidants and bioflavoniods, dark chocolate (not milk chocolate) is packed full of goodness.

Today I found these chocolate covered cacao nibs at Whole Foods... and they are AMAZING!!!

thanks Delaware!!!

A big thanks to everyone who stopped by the jewelry show at The Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts (DCCA).

Turns out that the feedback on my work was extremely positive and I've been asked to be a permanent consignment artist in the museum shop.  I'm working on another shipment of pieces to send up there, so be sure to check it out.  Hopefully I will be represented in the shop through the holidays.

praising the agave gods

I know this has NOTHING to do with jewelry or design,
but I can't get it out of my mind.

Agave Nectar is a natural alternative to processed sugar. It has low glycemic levels and is deliciousness in a bottle. I have decided to cut out sugar and sugar substitutes (aka: Splenda, equal, and sweet-n-low).

Two great things about Agave Nectar:

1. you can use it in anything... coffee, tea, oatmeal, baking...etc.
2. it does not effect your blood sugar so you don't get sugar highs and then crash.

I have tried agave nectar sporadically in the past, but now that I've converted totally, I feel amazing!

FREE TIBET

A great new album is out this week (coinciding with the Olympic games).  "Songs for Tibet" will not disappoint.

Great tracks from a few of my favorites:  Ben Harper, Teitur, Moby, and a fabulous new rendition of  "hide and seek" from Imogen Heap.

All money raised will go towards initiating peace projects in collaboration with the Dalai Lama in Tibet.

All songs can be purchased on itunes.
