good riddance 2008

I'm ready to kick 2008 in the butt and move on to the New Year.

For me, this past year has been pretty lack-luster.  There's been NO excitement, NO big news, NO amazing travels, and NO exploration!

I'm ready for change!   I'm determined to make 2009 a year for the books, a chart topper, a year to remember.

My new year's resolution is simple:  happiness!
I hope to spend more quality time with friends.
I hope to find work that challenges me to be better.
I hope to be blessed with good health.
And...I hope to grow in knowledge and self.

Cheers!

Not only am I counting down the days until Christmas, I'm also counting down the days until I have a day off of work. 5 days and counting.

perfectly messy

I'm in LOVE with Chloe Sevigny's hair in this photo. I'm always in awe of people who can get their hair to look "perfectly messy".

Anthony Roussel

I was in love when I stumbled upon the laser-cut wood jewelry of Anthony Roussel.   Sculptural but wearable.  Structured but delicate.  Natural.  Movement.  Rhythmic.  BEAUTIFUL!!!

Song of the week

Song of the week: A-Punk by Vampire Weekend

I know this song is a little old... but this was the first time I saw the video.
I LOVE IT, it made me smile!

Tallulah

A few weeks ago, this little cutie wandered into our house off the mean streets of Baltimore.  I'm guessing it's a little warmer in here than outside, because she has decided to stay.  May I introduce you to the new head of the household:  Tallulah  (aka- Lulu)

sick day

I took a sick day from work today.  The biggest thing I did today was move from my bed to the couch.  To say the least... not much was accomplished.  I did, however, find time to create this video.  I should probably apologize to my brother and sister, who I have also included.  Sorry, love you guys! :)

Holy crap, it's December!

Where the heck did this year go???  It's now December.
Today (December 1st) is world's AIDS day.  Starbucks has partnered up with the (RED) program and is donating 5 cents from every purchase to help fight AIDS in Africa.  November 27th- January 1st.

Luckily for Starbucks, I spend WAY too much money at their stores.  At least I'll feel better buying coffee for the next month, because I'll also be doing my part to help the world.  :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year.  Gathering with friends and family, eating warm comforting food, walking in the crisp fall air... what more could you ask for?  Cheers to everyone having a relaxing day!

All I can see

Is Sunday the end of one week?  Or the beginning of the next?
Either way, it seems to be the day I do most of my thinking (you know, about the important stuff).
All day, I haven't been able to get these lyrics out of my head...

I want to walk through this doorway
I want to open my mind
I want to pledge my allegiance to all I can find.
I want a car that will crash through the barriers
to a road no one knows.
I want to feel less control,
want to bend and I want to land far from home.

I want to learn a completely new language,
one that I don't understand.
I want to help someone lost, someone helpless,
with the strength of my hand.
I want to come to the base of a statue built
before they counted the years,
and there I'll fall with my face in my hands and cry
and feel their hope in my tears.

Those who journey can easily understand,
the more they see the more they'll learn,
the more that they will be.
So this I swear to you, this I swear to me,
I'll never rest until I've seen all I can see.

heads or tails?

Ooh... Ahh!
I can not stop gushing over these enormous coin earrings from the Zac Posen runway.

work in progress

I had a pretty productive day in the studio today.  A few new cluster rings on the way, as well as a couple of pierced branch rings.
A couple of months ago, my good friend Laurel and I started renting a new studio together.  It's still a work in progress, but it's coming along.
The best part is the chandelier in the middle of the room.  (Because we're classy girls!)

lazy sunday

This image epitomizes what I would consider a perfect lazy Sunday.
A cup of tea, chapstick, incense, a good book, and a comfy chair.

one tree, two tree

I'm starting to get the holiday itch.  I love this time of year... and I'm also loving these decorative trees.  They are festive for the holidays but not obnoxiously glitzy.

Happy Weekend.

Happy Weekend!  I have to work today... sigh.
But I wish I was hanging out with my friends today at Holiday Heap.  Good Luck girls.

did anyone lose an earring?

This gold, pearl, and emerald earring was recently found in a destroyed Byzantine structure under a parking lot in Jerusalem.  It is believed to be dated back 2,000 years to the Roman period just after Jesus.

AMAZING!!!

subject vs. object

I know these images have been floating around here and there, but I'm in love with Levi van Veluw's self-portraits.

"The image contains the history of a short creative process, with the artist shifting between the entities of subject and object."

out with the old, in with the new

Lots of new designs are being produced in the 12 linden studio this winter, so I've decided to put most of the old designs on SALE at my etsy site.

Go check them out!

new management

I thought I was finished with the political posts, since the election was a week ago.  But, I just love this tee shirt by print liberation.

1 day left...

Halloween is one day away. Here's a little hint about my costume. Well, I guess it's not a hint because I just gave it away. I'm going to be a PEACOCK! More pictures to follow tomorrow night.

It's happy hour somewhere.

I'm sitting at work dreaming of a glass of wine waiting for me at home, when I found this hilarious flask.
