artscape

I'm happy to announce that I will be showing my work at Artscape 2008.  Artscape, in Baltimore, is the country's largest free art festival.  I've been going for years and now I will be selling my jewelry there.  YEAH!!!!

fashion police

I don't want to sound like the fashion police... BUT SERIUOSLY??? Britney, what is going on?

say what? gas costs how much?

Say what???  I just need to vent for a second.  I just spent $50 to fill up my car.  Now I have a small 12 gallon car with awesome mileage... I can't even imagine the price to fill up some big old gas guzzlers out there.

I'm starting to feel a little like my grandparents- "when I was your age, I paid only a quarter for a loaf of bread".  But NO JOKE, when I got my license (just a mere 10 years ago)  I spent about $18 to fill up my tank.  In ten years the price of gas has almost quadrupled.

Phew!!!  I think I may seriously considered buying a new bike.  (too bad I live in the city and will probably get jumped if I ride a bike).  Except if I biked everywhere, my butt would probably be in amazing shape.  So maybe I need to thank the government for raising the price of gas so I can be ripped.  Just kidding!!!

pick of the day 4.17.08

I found the best blog today- The Portrait Party
What an amazing idea... all you have to do is post that you are interested in participating, pick a partner and draw each other.  When your pics are done, you can post them on the blog and share them with others.  It's awesome to see the different techniques that people use.  Some drawings are sketches, some are caricatures, and some are fully detailed.  I wish I could draw people; I would join in the fun!

i love italy!!!

I just had a conversation yesterday with my good friend Laurel about how much I want to go back to Italy. And today... I saw on Poppytalk this one week course in mixed media painting taking place in Italy. Oh, how I wish I could go.

pick of the day 4.16.08

My pick of the day is an etsy site- Little Houses
The clothes are totally hip and I want them all. She also sells jewelry, accesories, and drawings.

fingers crossed

YEAH!!! I found out this week I got into two upcoming summer shows...

Art Star Bazaar in Philadelphia, and

Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn.

Can't wait.  I'm new to the indie show scene, so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

pick of the day 4.12.08

pick of the day- Sabon NYC

While getting ready this morning, I noticed in my shower that I'm almost out of my favorite shower gel. OH NO!!! What's a girl to do? I was so desperate I even thought about adding water to dilute it so it would last longer. I must make an emergency order and have it shipped to me.
Everytime I hangout in NYC I make a stop (or two) to Sabon.
Sabon has a ton of wonderful scents such as lemon basil and ginger orange. My absolute favorite is Patchouli, Vanilla, Lavender. I know what you are thinking... patchouli is for hippies. But I promise you when you combine it with vanilla and lavender it turns into delicious heaven in a bottle.
Next time you visit NYC, stopping by Sabon is a must.
I'm off to place my order.

pick of the day 4.11.08

Pick of the day- these adorable transfer decals from sprout home
I've chosen these for two reasons:
1. They are so freakin' cute.
2. I'm thinking it would be fun to have them at a party so everyone could remember which drink was theirs.
All decals are reusable and dishwasher safe. SCORE!!!

new earrings

new earrings available at etsy.

beautiful day, I'm stuck at work

I'm sitting at my computer at work and I have found a drawing that depicts exactly how I'm feeling. Thank you Tom Haubrick. It's properly titled "Headache".

pick of the day 4.10.08

I'm not sure that a day goes by that I don't have a cup of tea. Iced tea, hot tea... morning, noon, and night.

Hi... my name is Eliza and I'm a tea addict.

I absolutely love these butterfly mugs; they are delicate and beautiful. Check them out here at Homebasic.

*sorry I don't know much about the company, everything seems to be in German*

pick of the day 4.9.08

I'm always astonished that I can continue to find products that I love.  Just when I think I've seen it all, I find another great design.  Here's the start of my one item pick of the day.

Of course I have to start with a rock pattern.  This felted stone rug is the result of some leftover wool from a blogger on craftster.  It looks so very soft on the feet.  Hmm... I wish I had some wool laying around.

yellow goodness

As I sit here praising the almighty Sun God, I'm trying to channel his rays of warmth.  All I can think about is YELLOW.

Sun God please bring your presence to Baltimore.

Daybreak pillow from anthropologie

little blossom painted lantern from urban outfitters

The sun is starting to peak out of the clouds.  YEAH!!!

Mister Sun

Oh mister sun, sun, mister golden sun... where the hell are you?

It's already a week into April and it's been one gray day after another. Where's the springtime sun? I'm getting a little stir crazy. Every morning I wake up hoping to see those little rays of delicious light. But NO... just another gray day in Charm City. Mister Sun where are you?

I took a stroll near the piers this morning and the sailboats are yearning for the springtime sails.

I think I may have to invest in a sunlamp.

ch ch ch chia

NO these are not chia houses!

These are "green installations" from across the world.  Companies are trying to reduce the amount of concrete in our environment and are starting to replace it with natural greenery.
The plants not only create a calming and tranquil effect, but are also a great conversation starter.

Check out some more here.

forget where you live, check you hanger!

I've never been the type of person that has all matching hangers in the closet.  I've got a few wood hangers, a handful of fabric hangers, and a slew of plastic hangers.  But I am definitely lacking in the "city scape" hanger department.  These hangers are sculpted into the city skyline of your choice.  Options include London, New York, and Tokyo.

You can find these at www.sixixis.com .

I may be more inclined to hang them on the wall as art, rather than hang my clothes in the closet.

rain rain go away

Although it is currently pouring buckets, Baltimore is not really known for large amounts of rain fall.  So... I may consider moving to Seattle or London just so I can wear these rainboots everyday.  Folded wellie boots are by designer Rachael Sleight.

years ago

I was going through some old files and came across these pics of some work I made while I was in school.  Although I've been out of school for four years now, I sometimes secretly wish I still had to complete projects.  Ahh... the memories!

All pieces are made of sterling silver combined with a non-traditional jewelry material.  Grass, paper and fibers are a few of my favorites.
