Much of the work I created in school was clean, simplistic, and based mostly on line and form. Over the years I have been more intrigued with pattern and "the once dreaded" decoration. I recently stumbled upon the work of Cal Lane and was instantly inspired. My favorite of her works are the shovels and wheelbarrel that she has pierced out with such detail.
The ornament is exquisite; I love the contrast between the hard, rusty steel and the "pretty" detail.

love, love, love
I can't even explain to you how much I LOVE these pillows. As you all know by now, I'm intrigued by textures and patterns found in nature (especially ROCKS). It makes me want to kick myself in the butt for not thinking of the idea myself.

new fav site...
I just wanted to share with everyone my new favorite site... cribcandy. I spent way too much time searching the site for all kinds of home goods. You can find anything from furniture to pillows to art or barware. Some of my favorites are these hilarious tea cups

Come to DC the first weekend in October for the Green Festival '07. "Party with a Purpose!" Learn what you can do to live a more healthier lifestyle for you and your environment. There are lectures, demos, films and exhibitions. (plus many eco-friendly businesses) Take some yoga classes, drink some organic beer, and party like a hippie. Enjoy live music and some great food.
We need to start now to improve our planet, join me to learn what we can do.

Fall time
Can you smell it in the air??? Can you really? It's almost fall time and I'm so EXCITED. Yesterday I felt the first cool breeze of the season and I've already started looking for new fall sweaters. I got out my teapot and I'm gearing up. Now I'm just sitting and waiting for the leaves to change. Happy Fall...almost!

nature. rocks. hiking.
Like many nature lovers, I am an avid hiker. I couldn't think of a better way to spend a day off. One of my is favorite places to go is Gunpowder Falls. On a recent hike, I took this pic of the rocks. I was amazed at the smooth form from where the water had traveled. Ah... the marvels of Mother Earth.

Skinny Bitch
Anyone interested in good health and a good laugh... I have recently read Skinny Bitch and I laughed my ass off. There's an entire chapter on "poo"ing and they refer to soda as "liquid satan". "You are what you eat...so everytime you put crap in your body, you are crap." "Eat your fiber and crap like a champ!"
Their thoughts are blunt and possibly brutal but made me laugh hysterically.
Most of their suggestions yield a vegetarian lifestyle, so it may not be for everyone. But, for me it was a informative short book for a sunday afternoon.
ahhh...musicians
Ha, Ha... my sister knows how I've always been drawn to creative people and for some reason I have a huge weakness for musicians. She sent me this comic and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

yeah...for me!
I've been working my butt off at work during the day and in the studio at night...I decided to treat myself to a present. I found the cutest pair of earrings on etsy from honeybee. The designer's name is Amy Moore, she has really great stuff if you're a nature lover.
giving back...
I'm reading a great new book by Bill Clinton about giving back, and I was introduced to a great organization called KIVA. http://www.kiva.org/ Kiva is an organization where people can donate money in the form of loans to others in foreign countries who are trying to start their own businesses. As someone who is starting to start my own small business, I understand the need to accept help from others. All donations are %100 loans, all money is paid back over time. What a great idea!!! I've already found a cute little lady from Ecuador who is trying to start a jewelry business and I'm excited that I can help her in her goal.
