games
I've always been a fan of playing games at home...cranium, battleship, and uno are a few of my favorites. But, the one game I was never good at was Scrabble.
My mom (as an english teacher) and my brother (just a really smart kid) were both scrabble wizards, but there I was spelling "cat" and/or "dog" at best. I've sort of given up my hopes of becoming a scrabble champ, but I found these pillows that would cheer up any game room.

paper vs. plastic
There has always been a great debate over whether it is better for the environment to use paper or plastic bags. I'm going to give you my opinion... Neither are better, use cloth!!! Yes, I am one of those girls who goes to Whole Foods with my cloth re-usable bags. Sometimes I wonder whether it is worth it, but today I read a disturbing statistic that reassures me in my bag decision making.
In the latest WOMEN'S HEALTH magazine, it is stated that "satellite images show a floating patch of garbage in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that's twice the size of Texas." It has been proven that most of the waste comes from the use of plastic bags. "Americans use 60,000 plastic bags every 5 seconds."
Here are a couple of my favorite cloth finds. Check your local grocery store for others. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Roots Market, and Super Fresh all have their own options.

progress
Ok, I know I have been saying for awhile now that I have been busy in the studio (which I have). But I figured I would show some of the progress I've been making with a few production lines. I'm hoping to get a handful done in the next few days.
Keep and eye out on my etsy page, hopefully in the next few weeks I will have many items to choose from.
congratulations
A BIG congratulations go out to my roommates Jon and Chandra who got married this weekend. The weather cleared up and yielded a beautiful autumn day. It couldn't have been more perfect. Also a big thanks to my good friend Liz who helped me put together all of the floral arrangements and bouquets. For our first time, I think we did a damn good job. If things don't work out in the jewelry business, I guess I could always fall back on the floral arranging. HA!

fabulous fungus
I know, I admit it...I'm a dork. (and that's right, I used the word dork.) Whenever I have some free time, I enjoy picking up some of my old textbooks and reading up. I know it sounds silly, but you may see me at anytime reading biology, chemistry, or even a vocabulary book. I refuse to be an adult who knows less than their 10 year old neighbor.
Anyway...last week I was catching up on some BIO 101 when I found this awesome picture. I know it's fungus, but it's fabulous. I love the lace-like pattern.

yes!
It's been a really long time since I've posted, but that's because I have been busy at the bench. For the first time in a long time, I have been extremely productive. I'm excited about what I'm making and I can't wait to share it with everyone. It won't be long... Yeah!!!!
