1 day left...

Halloween is one day away. Here's a little hint about my costume. Well, I guess it's not a hint because I just gave it away. I'm going to be a PEACOCK! More pictures to follow tomorrow night.

It's happy hour somewhere.

I'm sitting at work dreaming of a glass of wine waiting for me at home, when I found this hilarious flask.

from one creative mind to another

A friend of mine sent me this in an email, so I figured I would answer here on my blog...

favorite artist/designer:  Andy Goldsworthy & Alphonse Mucha
I love to create using... METAL!!!
what inspires me:  I know it's cliche, but I've got to give it up to Mother Nature
favorite medium besides my own:  fibers
most inspirational city: Florence (Firenze)
ideal weekend off:  hiking in the woods & a bonfire at night
favorite color:  olive green and seafoam
favorite musician: (of all time)- incubus & thievery corporation (currently)- the kooks
favorite movie:  almost famous
favorite song:  hide & seek- imogen heap
favorite song lyric: "Imagine your brain as a canister filled with ink.  Now think of your body as the pen where the ink resides.  Fuse the two, KAPOW.  What are you now?  You're the human magic marker, won't you please surprise me eyes?"
- Incubus, Redefine
If I could have any other job it would be...  musician (piano, guitar, djembe, etc)  I would LOVE to learn OR... a contemporary dancer.  (too bad I can't do either)
I wish... I could make a living as a full time artist, and travel the world too!

Now let's get to know Annie, Liz, Laurel, and Juliet... your turn ladies!

New York, I love you

I can't wait to see this.  (Girls... you better plan another movie night!)

endorsements

A couple New York stores have gone to different measures to endorse Barack Obama for president; they've turned to window installations.

A Brooklyn Industries store has put Barack masks on each mannequin in the window.

Buckler in Soho has gone the route of taping a vinyl decal of Obama's picture to their window front.

These two get points in my book for creativity.

Be the change that you want to see!

The countdown is on... only two weeks until election day.
Great video by Kat Edmonson

can I get some warmth?

Two days ago it was 80 degrees in Baltimore...
tonight I am sitting next to a heater and my toes are STILL cold.

now THAT'S a steady hand.

Metalsmithing has trained me to have a pretty steady hand... but the precision and detail in these eggs are seriously impressive.  I can see the eggs just crumbling in my hands.

just a second to breathe

On Saturday morning my brother and I hopped in the car and headed up I-95 to go visit our grandparents in New Jersey.  We picked the perfect weekend to go because the leaves are beginning to change color (YEAH!) and the drive was beautiful.

Our grandparents live on a lake, in a quiet old town, nestled in the farms of Southern Jersey.  (A perfect place to relax.)
I spent a little time in one of these chairs...
with a book on my lap...
enjoying the view and taking a second to breathe.

why oh why???

Why is it that the songs that get stuck in your head are:
1. songs that you haven't heard in years
2. songs that you can't stand
3.  songs that you haven't heard in years and also can't stand

WELCOME to my world.
In my head is usually something like this.
And now...

GO FISH.

I've always been pretty indifferent when it comes to Halloween.  But thanks to my good friend Laurel, I've actually been looking forward to dressing up this year.  (Wait, did I just say that?)

What I mean, is that I've been forced to get excited about Halloween.  (just kidding!)

Anyway... I've been researching the art of face painting and I found these AMAZINGLY animated fish faces.

Kat Macleod

Kat Macleod makes the most beautiful fashion collages.  She also has a couple of books under her belt.  I may just have to invest in one.

Monday's musicfest

Last night I saw one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Two of the most entertaining musicians out there... Common and Pharrell with N.E.R.D.
Highlights of the night... Pharrell's sick dance moves, and Common's 10 minute freestyle.
The evening was a perfect way to start off the week.
Lots of dancing, fist pumping, and preaching about this guy...  (which is always okay in my book)

The scary thing is that I think this broad may live down the street from me in good old Charm City.

my toast looks like jesus

It's been a pretty LONG week, and I'm starting to catch a little cold... so I decided to turn in early tonight.  I'm lying here in bed, just checking up on what's going on in blogland and I found this sweet image.

A happy accident from ladies and gentleman home blog.

It's NO Jesus on toast or Virgin Mary on a cinnamon roll,  but it brought a smile to my face (and this mug).  HA!
