frat boy= design genius... who knew?

I've definitely known a few frat boys in my day who assumed "if it's sturdy enough to sit on... then it is instant furniture".  (a milk crate, a cardboard box, a laundry basket)
Who knew that college frat boys were on the forefront of eco-industrial design??????

I found this "Box Life" furniture on Dwell.  Furniture by Naty Moskovich

are you jealous???

print by Frank Chimero

I just found this print on Elements of Style, and I thought its message rang true.  I myself have had  many of those "DAMN IT" moments when I see something fabulous and wish I came up with it first.

However, it also makes me work harder, hoping that others may possibly feel that way about something I've created.

happy feet

A few months ago, I went to see the movie "Sex in the City"...  big mistake I tell you.
Ever since, my little feet have been aching for fabulous new shoes.

Most of the time, you can find me in flip flops, but there is a wonderful feeling I get when I slip on a great pair of heels.

My latest love: Marcello Toshi shoes

Just a few favorites.
Oh, these cutout sling backs are my favorite.

too bad! beautiful shoes = hole in my pocket
Oh, a girl can dream!

Artscape recap

I haven't visited Artscape in a few years, so when I was accepted as a vendor I wasn't quite sure what I should expect.

 I was pleasantly surprised.

Although sales were less than ideal, I had a pretty fun time just people watching.  Baltimore (like many cities) has an eclectic mix of people, to say the least.  I wish I had more pictures to share, but it seemed that my camera was always lost in the bottom of my bag when I needed it the most.

This man was promoting the "Body Works" exhibit at the Science Center.  The funny part (which I missed in the pic) was that he had a woman following him with a fan so he didn't melt.  And also a blotter, wiping off his sweat.

Not sure about this one... three girls on stilts wearing bonnets and riding ostrichs.  Your guess is as good as mine.   ???????

For some reason, every year Artscape lands on the hottest weekend in Maryland.  This weekend was no exception.  Temperatures hung around 95 degrees each day.  But, with a couple of fans and tons of H2O it was bearable.

All in all, I enjoyed myself... although next year I may just apply for one day not the entire weekend.

Oh yeah... it was also the first show this year without rain.  YEAH!!!

grab your tote, let's go!

I've been admiring DrikaB bags for sometime now.  I want to order one, but I can't decide on which one I love the most.  I think I need to save up my money and buy one of each.  She has every size from a small satchel to a long weekender bag.

Come get a beer!

"Art Cars" - Artscape 2007 picture

Artscape is finally here!!! If you are in the B-more area, please come stop by to see me. I will be selling my jewelry in the DIY section on the corner of Mt. Royal and N. Charles. (If it helps, I will be set up next to the DJ stage)

You can't tell through the computer but, I'm pretending to be a DJ spinning records right now. Wicka, Wicka, Wicka (that's the scratching if you couldn't tell) You are so wishing you could see me right now... too bad! If you stop by my table this weekend, I may re-enact it.

Come, grab a beer, and listen to great music.

happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July!!!

In normal Baltimore fashion, it looks like it might rain this evening (about the time of the fireworks).   I'm crossing my fingers it will stay dry.

At least it is an extra day off of work.  Cheers to that!

today's music

Music is an obsession for me.  I think I've probably been into every genre of music at some point in my life.

middle school-   pop, R&B, light rock
high school-   classic rock, jam bands, modern rock
college-   singer/songwriters, dance
now-   indie rock, electronica, brit pop, ambient, triphop... (and all the above)

I get a little out of control when it comes to itunes and I've realized it's so nice to be able to buy one song from an artist.  I think I missed out on so much good music, because back in the day you had to purchase an entire album.

Here's my playlist for the week:

Black and Gold         by Sam Sparro
Soul Rock                    by Ferras
Lost                                by Coldplay
Casing Pavements    by Adele
Green                            by Brendan James
Sour Cherry               by the Kills
Forever                        by Walter Meego
and...
Untouched                  by the Veronicas
