Just a random question... Do people still play croquet???
I think I'm going to bring it back this summer.

You bet! We started playing last summer in "Pool #2" in Druid Park! Friends + Beer + Croquet = Excellent time...
I played a game last summer... and came in dead last. That includes the (many) extra shots I took when no one was looking. I blame the poorly manicured lawn ;)
my grandmother has a great set i can borrow. Carrying case and all....
When we were in Portland last summer, we stumbled onto a group playing croquet all dressed up in vintage garb. The men looked like explorers of some bygone era and the women had petticoats and parasols. And for whatever reason there was a guy in a bunny suit. It was great fun to watch! :)

Laura, that sounds awesome. I'm not sure that I'll be dressing up to play (unless of course I can find a bunny suit).
YES! I just travelled back to 1955 for this year so there will definitely be some croquet this summer accompanied by glimps of crinolins and petticoats as the sun catches at our full skirts. Even in the 'modern world' we played. I love the look of the set and the color and the sound! Oh, that sound when your ball hits another and u get that little rush as you step up, place your foot on your ball and send the opponents ball into the hedges! What summer joy! Maybe I will get my set out today and dream of a non-snowy yard. Nice blog.
Oh, laura crawford, I bet they were having a go at an Alice in Wonderland game. "I can't be late", and all that. Did you notice if they were playing with flamingos instead of mallets?
